Daily Devotional Guide
Cowards flee when evil advances. Real men stand in the face of evil, expose it, and teach the right way. That's what Jesus did. But this text is no mere guidebook. Jesus is the ultimate example for us to follow but He's much more than that.

Skeptics who claim God is mean are wrong. God is just. To people who have chosen to find their identity in their sinful desires, justice will always look mean. In this week's passage we see the compassion of our Lord. You might call this meekness. Don't forget what meekness is. It's not weakness. It's confident strength under control. When Jesus turned those tables over, he wasn't losing His temper. He was protecting His church from corruption. It wasn't enough for Him to just make a scene. Jesus didn't settle for that. Rather than simply driving out the salesmen, He taught the right way to those who stayed behind.

Jesus is a real man.

He wept.
He got angry.
He gave corrections.
And He did it all without sinning.

What a Man!
